United Way Honors Axcelis Technologies With Top Business Award; Employees Rallied to Raise Donations in Support of Local Agency

BEVERLY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 13, 2001--Axcelis Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLS), has received the prestigious Mary K. Connors Award from the North Shore United Way for its outstanding support of local human service programs. Through a combination of employee pledges and a corporate gift, Axcelis was the largest single donor to North Shore United Way's 2000/2001 campaign, raising nearly $97,000 and increasing total funds Axcelis raised by 25% over last year. Axcelis has supported North Shore United Way for more than a decade as part of an ongoing effort to support the local community. Axcelis and its employees are committed to supporting the local community through company contributions and strong employee involvement.
